Collective behavior and cognition in animal societies

Ever since I was a kid, I have been fascinated by the tiny world of ants-observing their long trails, seeing them carrying brood and food over long distances. This curiosity turned into a real exploration during my undergraduate studies when I got to work with ant colonies and explore their house hunting strategy. Since then, I am hooked on how ant colonies tackle and solve complex situations and adapt their behaviors under novel environmental conditions. Right now, for my PhD studies, I am diving deeper into how behavior and physiology come together during nest site selection in the rock crevice nesting ant at Arizona State University. If not looking at ants, I enjoy travelling to new places, hiking, playing sports or hunting down the best food spots in the town.
